Wintun people

The Wintun (also Wintuan, Wintoon ) are a group of related Native American tribes who live in Northern California - to which the tribes of the so-called real name. Wintu ( Northern Wintun ), the Nomlaki (Central Wintun ) and the Patwin ( Southern Wintun ) belong. Their territory extends roughly from today's Lake Shasta to San Francisco Bay, along the western side of the Sacramento River to the coast. Common to these tribes that they speak one of the Wintuan languages.
