Wipptal (district)
The district community Wipptal (Italian Comunità Comprensoriale Alta Valle Isarco ) is a consortium of six communities in the South Tyrol part of the Wipptal and its side valleys in Italy. It was separated in 1980 from the district community Eisacktal. As ( according to number of municipalities ) smallest of the eight district communities of South Tyrol it covers an area of 650 km ² with 18,220 inhabitants ( January 2004). Capital and seat of government is Sterzing.
Municipalities of the district community are: Brenner, Fortezza, free-field, Pfitsch, Racines and Vipiteno.
