Wireframe

The term wireframe is used in various areas of information technology.

Term

The translation of the English word as much as " wire frame ". The term originally meant a very simple dress form, so to speak, a three-dimensional hangers in sizes such as " M" or " XXL" and in the shaping of "male" or " very feminine ".

Computer Graphics

Especially used in computer - aided design displaying three-dimensional objects. Here only body edges or auxiliary lines are drawn (wireframe model).

Web Development

Alternatively, the term " mock-up " is the term used to represent a very early conceptual prototype of a website or a software front-ends. Based on a website elements such as navigation and content areas should be part of this skeleton.

There are two types of wireframes:

  • For a static wireframes: This is a schematic representation of a single page template. Here are the basic elements of the page are recorded. A conceptual layout should be recognizable. A perfect design is not necessary.
  • Furthermore, it is also dynamic wireframes. These consist of several pages that are as functional prototype interactively linked. So navigation is possible from one side to the other. Dynamic Wireframes are often complemented by an enclosed navigation tree or a flow chart, both of which abstract the structure and make it easier to understand.

It is sufficient graphical components represent only a very rudimentary, since it in a wireframe - whether it is static or dynamic - is primarily about the design, not the design.
