Wish (The-Cure-Album)

Wish is the ninth studio album by the British band The Cure. It was released in April 1992 Fiction Records.

History

Wish was released in 1992 as the successor to the published 1989 album Disintegration. The mood of the album is more optimistic than the Moody predecessor, which is why Wish is considered to be compatible to the broad mass taste.

Consequently Wish is still the album, with the group The Cure achieved the world's biggest chart success. It debuted at number 1 in the UK and in the U.S. Billboard 200 at No. 2, where it was sold more than 1.2 million times. In Germany the album reached # 6 and held on 4 May to 22 November 1992, 29 weeks in the charts.

The second single release, Friday I'm in Love, became one of the most famous songs by The Cure. It reached number 6 in the UK charts, number 17 on the U.S. charts and number 1 in South Africa.

Wish was for the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album Nominated 1993 ( Best Alternative Music Album ).

As a guest musician Kate Wilkinson plays the viola in the title To Wish Impossible Things.
