Wisper in the local situation of Lorch

Is known of Whisperwind, a directed especially in the morning hours from the Wispertal against the Rhine valley cold air flow.

Course

The Wisperquelle located in the western Taunus in the field of Heidenrod, about 250 m east of the local situation of Mappershain and as far south of the exit from the main road 260 to this place. The Wisper flows in a southwesterly direction through a quiet, rich in natural beauty, wooded valley. The valley is very sparsely populated. The only located on both sides of the Wisper village is Geroldstein.

From the confluence with the Fischbach on to the Rhine, the Wisper is accompanied by the country road 3033, the so-called Wisperstraße. From the mouth of Gladbach on to the bridge of the main road by 3272 Presberg (air line 10.5 km ), the Wisper overcomes very deep and narrow cut 16 km long and full of tight turns through the Taunus. From then on, the valley widens to Lorch and flows near the city center in the Rhine.

Geographical Location

Most of the valley system of the Wisper is part of the natural environment Wispertaunus subunit, which belongs to the western Hintertaunus. The Wispertaunus has the landscape type of virgin forest landscape that is deeply zertalt and offers only a few ridges room for small rural settlements, particularly the northern right side valleys. Here lie from west to east: Ransel, Wollmerschied, Espenschieds, Dickenschied, Hilgenroth, Nauroth, jumping and Wisper. Similarly Altitude is located on the southern left valleys only Presberg. The number of Talsiedlungen is much lower. To the northwest is located in the deep and narrow incision of Tiefenbach Sauertal, less due to geographical advantages but also its historic border location in an area once valuable slate quarries. In the southeast there are three Talsiedlungen: Low Gladbach, Obergladbach and Fischbach. Otherwise, here are large contiguous forest areas, such as the hinterland forests that make this natural area particularly worthy of protection. More than a third of the area of the Wispertaunus is designated as conservation area.

History

The Wisper was the northern border region of the Rheingau. Several castles were to border security in the Middle Ages built on both sides of the border. In first place, the present castle Schwarzenberg, the castle Rheinberg to name the Rheingau Rhine Count, and also in Geroldstein that Lauksburg in Lauke mill chamber castle and the Sauerburg.

From 1919 up to the occupation of the Ruhr in 1923 was a narrow strip in the north of Wispertales of Lorch Ransel, Wollmerschied, Welterod, Strüth, anger and Egenroth after Laufenselden the Free State bottleneck, a tiny area that was excluded on the right bank of the Rhine by the Allied occupation of the Rhineland and the rest of the Weimar Republic was to achieve from just over rough territory.

Geomorphology

When Wisper is a strong, narrow V-shaped valley Sohlenkerbtal up with some pronounced Talasymmetrie. One of the reasons for this are up to 10 meters thick, one-sided Lössschleppen on the eastern slopes, which is almost completely absent on the western slopes. The floodplain of the Wisper is particularly in the lower reaches covered with different powerful, more or less skeletal media Auelehmdecken. They are shown to be the result of historical deforestation in the catchment area and are rarely trained today.

Flora and Fauna

The Wisper is a small, partially even unpolluted water system with grades I and I-II. The few now usually treated wastewater discharges in the headwaters of some poor outflow tributaries recover quickly by the well-functioning self-cleaning capacity of the Wisper.

The lower reaches of the Wisper is passable for migratory fish. In 2003, the first time returned from the sea salmon in the Wisper have propagated. Furthermore, even brown and sea trout are found in the Wisper.

The flora is dominated by large climatic differences, low human influence and rich location factors. In Wispergebiet, which is identified in large part as a conservation area, has many rare species of plants, such as orchids.
