Wissam Joubran

Wissam Joubran ( born February 19, 1983 in Nazareth ) is an Israeli composer, oud player and luthier. It belongs to the Arab minority in Israel.

Life

Joubran was born in Nazareth in Galilee, the third child of the oud maker Hatem Joubran. His brothers Samir Joubran and Adnan Joubran are also oud player. His first lessons on the Oud, he received from the age of 5 by his father until he was accepted as a student at the Conservatory of Nazareth. At the age of nine, he was together with his brother Samir, the first public concerts, at age twelve, he performed with his brother in Paris. In 2001, he became the first Arab student a diploma at the prestigious Antonio Stradivari Conservatory in Cremona.

Like his father, Wissam Joubran instrument makers and provides both instruments for the Trio Joubran forth and for other musician specially according to their requirements. In 2003 released his first album Tamaas which he recorded with his brother Samir. Followed in 2004 under the name of Le Trio Joubran Album Randana, which was also the youngest of the Joubran brothers, Adnan Joubran, is involved. The trio is now a guest on international stages such as Carnegie Hall in New York. 2007 came out the album Majaz, from the soundtrack to the film comes Adieu Gary in 2009 by French director Nassim Amaouche. In his latest album, which is marketed in Europe under the label world music, the trio is accompanied by the percussionist Youssef Hbeisch.
