Witkowo, Pomeranian Voivodeship

Witkowo ( German Vietkow ) is a village in the municipality Smołdzino in powiat Słupski ( Stolp ) of the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Geographical location

Witkowo located in Pomerania, about 25 kilometers northeast of the city of Slupsk ( Stolp ) and five kilometers south-southeast of the church village Smołdzino ( Schmolsin ).

History

Witkowo (formerly also Witkow ) was mentioned in 1282 under the name local Wicesowo in a deed by which the Duke pommerellische Mestwin II renewed the Donation of his father Swantopolk II for the Stanislaus Church in Guard. In the Prussian era Vietkow belonged to the so-called royal villages that were under the Office Schmolsin. Around the year 1784 there were in Vietkow seven peasants, a mayor, three Kossäten, five Büdner and a total of 15 households. The farmers and Kossäten were liable to serve as a fief taker to the Office Schmolsin and had to make clamping services among others. In 1832 the hitherto shared agricultural areas of the township were divided among the farmers. 1912, the road from Old Gutzmerow built after Schmolsin and the railway line to Dominke.

In 1925 were in Vietkow 74 residential buildings. In 1939 lived in Vietkow 281 inhabitants in 75 households, and the municipality had a total of 46 farms.

Before 1945 Vietkow belonged to the district of Schmolsin district Stolp, administrative region of Pomerania, Pomerania. The municipal area was 484 hectares. In the community Vietkow there were a total of six Locations:

  • Erlental
  • Karlshof
  • Lupin mountain
  • Oberndorf
  • Under village
  • Vietkow

Towards the end of World War II occupied on March 9, 1945, the Red Army the village. Then came Poland and took over the farms. Vietkow was renamed Witkowo. The villagers have been displaced in the subsequent period.

57 originating from Vietkow villagers were later identified in the Federal Republic of Germany and 137 in East Germany.

The village is now initially powiat Słupski the Pomeranian Voivodeship ( to 1998 Slupsk voivodship ) become. Here now live about forty inhabitants.

Church

The villagers before 1945 in Vietkow present were Protestant. Vietkow belonged to the parish Schmolsin and thus to the church Stolp -Altstadt.

School

By 1830, the villages Zietzen, Virchenzin and Vietkow had a common school between these villages on the knight free ' Vorwerk Rambow was. Because of the long walk to school then got to each of the three villages of his own school. After the school building was burned down in Vietkow 1881, a new school building was 200 meters to the northwest of the old school house built. In 1932, taught in the then stage a single school teacher 48 school children.
