Witold Orłowski

Witold Maciej Orlowski (born 1962 in Łódź) is a Polish economist and university professor. He is Head of the Business School Warsaw University of Technology ( SzkoĹ biznesu Politechniki Warszawskiej ).

Life

Orlowski studied and graduated at the University of Łódź. Until 1992 he worked as an assistant professor in Łódź. From 1991 to 1993 he was a consultant in the Office of European Integration and from 1993 to 1997 at the World Bank in the Department of macroeconomics. He is and has also worked for other institutions: so when NOBE Independent Center for Economic Studies (co-founder and director ), at the EBRD, FAO and the European Commission. From 2002 to 2005 Orlowski was economic advisor to the Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski.

In 2007, Orlowski was appointed professor. He is the Head of the Business School ( MBA) from the University of Warsaw. He also acts as Member of the Economic Advisory Council ( Rada Gospodarcza ) of the Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Also Orlowski is chief economist of the Polish subsidiary of PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Orlowski's research interests lie in the area of economic transformation and economic integration of Eastern European countries in Europe. He is the author of several books and many scientific papers. His work " Droga do Europy " (The Way to Europe ) was excellent.

Awards and Affiliations

Orlowski is an officer of the Order of Polonia Restituta ( 2005). He is a member of the jury for Galeria Chwały Polskiej Ekonomii.
