Władysław Tatarkiewicz

Władysław Tatarkiewicz ( born April 3, 1886 in Warsaw, † April 4, 1980 ) was a Polish philosopher and ethicist of Lvov -Warsaw School and philosophy and art historian. He was a member of the Polska Akademia Nauk Umiejętności and the Polska Akademia.

Life

Tatarkiewicz studied, among others, at the universities of Berlin, Marburg, Paris and Lviv. He read history of philosophy, aesthetics and ethics at the University of Warsaw, Wilno, Poznan and Lausanne. He was chief editor of Przegląd Filozoficzny and Estetyka and the author of numerous nonfiction.
