Władysław Żmuda

Władysław Antoni Żmuda ( born June 6, 1954 in Lublin, Poland) is a Polish football coach and former football player.

Żmuda played central defender with the Polish clubs Gwardia Warsaw, Slask Wrocław and Łódź Widzew. With Wrocław he established in 1977, Polish champion. 1981 and 1982, he was together with Zbigniew Boniek and Widzew Łódź twice Polish champion. His debut in the Polish national team, he was in 1973. During the Football World Cup 1974 in Germany, he was already a regular player and together with Jerzy Gorgoń backing of the team that won the bronze medal at this World Cup.

He participated in three more times in the Football World Cup: 1978 in Argentina 1982 in Spain and 1986 in Mexico. In 1982 he won the bronze medal for the second time in a World Cup. He also won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976.

Żmuda with 21 World Cup Play the record holder of Polish football. In the eternal ranking it stands together with Diego Maradona and Uwe Seeler in third place. Only Paolo Maldini and Lothar Matthäus have more games contested as Władysław Żmuda. Up to the Football World Cup 1994 in the USA Żmuda was a leader together with Uwe Seeler, 1994 came Maradona in this rating ex equo added before the three displaced in France in 1998 by Lothar Matthäus ( total of 25 WRC rounds ) during the football World Cup, as part of the Football World Cup 2002 then as of Paolo Maldini ( a total of 23 world Cup action) were obsolete in Japan and South Korea.

His active career he trailed off in Italy and the USA. He then became a coach. Since 20 March 2009, he coached the Polish U-16 national team.
