WÅ‚odawa Synagogue

The Great Synagogue was a synagogue on Czerwony Krzyż Street # 7 in Włodawa, the county town of the district powiat Włodawski in the Polish province of Lublin, where a few kilometers away, the Nazi extermination camp Sobibor was built during the German occupation of Poland.

Description

The religious building was erected in the years 1764-1774 according to the plans of architect Antoni Paweł Fontana. Noteworthy is the neo-baroque designed ark from the year 1936. Damaged during the Second World War, the synagogue was restored in 1983 to serve as a museum, the Muzeum Pojezierza Łęczyńsko - Włodawskiego.
