Wolfgang Kraus

Wolfgang Kraus ( born August 20, 1953 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a former German football player and manager.

Career

Clubs

At age 18, Wolfgang Kraus received a first team contract with Eintracht Frankfurt and was first ( 32 Matchday) on 3 June 1972 at the 3:6 defeat at Bayern Munich - 81 minutes in to replace Thomas Rohrbach - used. His first Bundesliga dated (7th Round ) of 5 October 1974, when the harmony with the 9:1 home win over Rot-Weiss Essen succeeded to this day the largest margin of victory in the Bundesliga.

For the season 1979/80 moved to Bayern Munich Kraus, for whom he first time on August 11, 1979 (1st Round ) against league newcomer Bayer 04 Leverkusen - on as a substitute in the 81st minute for Wolfgang Dremmler - was used. For Bayern, he completed 138 league (17 goals), 8 DFB Cup ( 2 goals) and 35 European games (5 goals).

From 1984 to 1986 he played for FC Zurich in the Swiss National League A, and returned for one season back to Frankfurt, where he once played 15 games and scored one goal. His last game was played on November 29, 1986 ( 16th Round ) in the 0-1 home defeat against FC Schalke 04 instead. For Eintracht Frankfurt he completed a total of 188 league (30 goals), 23 DFB Cup (7 goals) and 13 European games (5 goals).

National

Kraus graduated ten caps for the amateur national team, for the first time on December 6, 1972 in Hertogenbosch in the 1-2 defeat against the Netherlands, the last time on February 26, 1975 in Mannheim in the 0-2 defeat against France. In the B national team he was used on 5 and 12 June 1977, 4-1 - or 3-1 victory over the United States ( in Chicago ) and Honduras ( Tegucigalpa ).

Management

The veteran moved in the middle of the 1986/87 season from his regular place in midfield to the manager post of the association, a position he held until September 1988. Kraus reached so early his career goal of one day becoming manager of the Hessian Bundesliga. The skilled merchant had already proven in his own contract negotiations as a player great negotiating skills, which was useful for his new role. However, it failed after less than two years. Background of the dismissal was the sale of Star player and audience favorite Lajos Détári. The first copy of the immediate termination of his contract manager at Eintracht Frankfurt was dropped through a bathroom window, the second was duly delivered.
