Wolfgang Zimmermann

Wolfgang Zimmermann ( born December 14, 1949 in Leichlingen (Rheinland) ) is a German politician and trade unionist. He was 2007-2010 Country Representative and 2010-2012 member of parliament of the party Die Linke in North Rhine -Westphalia and chairman of its parliamentary group. He is a member of the party executive.

Zimmermann, since 1973, trade unionists (until November 2010 Chairman of the Verdi - district Rhein- Wupper and by March 2011 a member of the Verdi - Chairman of the District Board NRW) and until May 2010 exempted staff council chairman in the LVR Clinic Langenfeld, had before his entry into the WASG party political experience in PDS collected and is a member of the socialist group isl.

He replaced as the national spokesperson for the WASG North Rhine -Westphalia in June 2005 Hüseyin Kenan Aydın. In November 2005, Zimmermann was, as his colleague Catherine equal Schwabedissen, re-elected as Country Representative.

At the founding congress of his party Die Linke NRW in Gladbeck on 20 October 2007 Carpenter received 256 of 287 votes in the election to the Country Representative. Also for state election 2012 Wolfgang Zimmermann was elected by his party to second place on the state list. During the election campaign a lung carcinoma was detected during a medical examination. The party held on to his candidacy despite the failure of the election campaign. With the failure of the left at the five - percent hurdle in this election, he resigned from the parliament.
