Woman in Love

Woman in Love is a pop ballad by Barbra Streisand in 1980, which was written and produced by the Bee Gees. She appeared on the album Guilty.

History

Following the success of Bee Gees with the soundtrack to the film Saturday Night Barbra Streisand inquired of them whether they could also write her an album. The result was the album Guilty. Due to the worldwide success of Woman in Love the album and some of the Nachfolgsingles was successfully next to the song. In the radio program American Top 40 Casey Kasem mentioned that this is the first number -one hit, in which a performer unchanged for 10 seconds a sound continues ("I stumble and fall / But I give you it all" ). This exceeded 1992 Whitney Houston with her cover version of Dolly Parton 's classic I Will Always Love You.

The song is about a woman who is nearing the decision to leave her husband. The first release was on 16 August 1980. In the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Sweden and Norway, the pop ballad became a number one hit.
