Women's Flat Track Derby Association

The Women's Flat Track Derby Association (short: WFTDA ) is a sports association for female Roller Derby teams and leagues based in the United States. The organization was founded in 2004 as United Leagues Council, but was renamed in November 2005. The Association is registered in Raleigh, North Carolina as a nonprofit organization. According to its statutes, " it promotes the sport of Women's Flat -Track Roller Derby by supporting the development of athleticism, sportsmanship and good will of its member clubs " and their motto is "by the skaters for the skaters ." Is a prerequisite for membership that each member organization, regardless of its legal form or structure, mostly under the direction and in the possession of athletes is.

On March 1, 2012, with Bear City Roller Derby from Berlin (Main Team: Berlin Bombshells ) the first continental European league full member of the WFTDA.
