Women's World Chess Championship 2014

The World Chess Championship for women 2014 is a scheduled by the World Chess Federation FIDE to 11 bis 31 October 2014 knockout tournament with 64 participants for the title of world champion in chess.

Participants

In addition to 51 participants, which are determined in national, zonal and continental championships, 13 places will be allocated according to other specified criteria. Eligible are therefore:

  • The two participants in the World Chess Championship for women 2013
  • The two semi-finalists of the World Chess Championship for women 2012
  • The winner of the World Junior Girls Championship in 2012 and 2013
  • The five players with the highest Elo ratings between February 2013 and January 2014
  • Two nominated by FIDE players

The players found in other championships are distributed as follows:

  • 28 players from Europe
  • 12 players from Asia and Oceania
  • 8 players from America
  • 3 players from Africa

Not participations

Judit Polgár was already entitled repeatedly about their Elo rating to participation in women's world championships, but rejects taking place since at women-only tournaments, so that in the event of a renewed authority to use their participation as unlikely.

Follow

The winner of the tournament has the right to defend her title at the battle for the World Chess Championship for women in 2015.
