Woody Dumart

Woodrow Wilson Clarence " Woody" Dumart ( born December 23, 1916 in Kitchener, Ontario; † 19 October 2001 in Boston, Massachusetts ) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played from 1936 to 1954 for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League.

Career

In his hometown of Kitchener Woody began with the Eishockeypspielen at the Empires and the Green Shirts. In 1935, he moved to Boston, where he played for the Cubs and was allowed in the 1935/36 season and again for the Bruins onto the ice. He spent about two -thirds of the Providence Reds also the coming season and was slowly brought up to the NHL. Fully arrived in the NHL he played in the season 1936/37, on the side of Dit Clapper and his childhood friend Milt Schmidt and took in the series to a body-hugging part. Starting next season, he formed together with Schmidt and Bobby Bauer herb Line, which in 1939 contributed significantly to the second Stanley Cup winning Bruins. Two years later they were able to repeat this success and brought the Cup to Boston. Before the end of the following season the complete Storm series left the team and moved to the Royal Canadien Air Force in the Second World War. The three to season 1945/46, returned and reinforced the Bruins again. Dumart also took part in the first two regular All- Star Games in 1947 and 1948. In 1954, he finished his career with the Bruins.

He was honored with induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1992.
