World Cosplay Summit

The World Cosplay Summit ( WCS abbreviated ) is an international cosplay competition, in which teams from different countries, consisting of costume and performance are competing. Teams must have previously qualified by a national advance Scheid for the WCS. The World Cosplay Summit is the only international Cosplaywettbewerb. The number of participants currently comprises 20 countries, including: Brazil, Germany, Spain, Italy, Korea, Japan, Mexico, Thailand, United States.

History

The organizers of the WCS is the Japanese broadcaster TV Aichi, which is known for its anime series. The World Cosplay Summit was first held in autumn 2003. At that time there were at WCS, however, still no contest, it was just a gathering of cosplayers from different countries.

  • 2004, a second time took place the World Cosplay Summit. This time attracted the 8 participating cosplayers from Italy, Germany, France and the U.S., the attention of the media.
  • In 2005 there was the first time a stage performance, which acted as competition. Seven countries participated in the competition, which was held at Expo Dome at the World Exposition in Aichi Prefecture. The 3000 seats of Expro Domes were completely filled and more than 30 different TV stations and media from around the world were present.
  • In 2006, for the WCS competition another 3 countries added: Singapore, Thailand and Brazil. In addition, the number of participants was limited within the teams of each country on two people. It was the first in this year, the Cosplay Parade ( Osu Kannon Parade ) by Nagoya. In the accompanying press conference in Akihabara, Tokyo, the media interest was even greater than in previous years.
  • In 2007, the World Cosplay Summit even as a part of the " Visit Japan " campaign was taken. 12 countries participated in the competition. 200 cosplayers from around attended the Osu Cosplay Parade and approximately 10,000 visitors came to see the competition.
  • In 2009, the Red Carpet Walk added (before the Nagoya International Hotel).
  • 2011 New countries: Malaysia and the Netherlands were added (in the meantime are cosplayers from 17 countries represented ).
  • 2012 New countries: England, Indonesia and Russia

The end of the World Cosplay Summit

The World Cosplay Summit consists of various events ( which change from year to year ). Solid components of the WCS are now the Red Carpet Walk, the Cosplay Parade ( which takes place during the Osu Kannon festival ) and the World Cosplay Championship (the actual competition).

Regulate

  • Each country is represented by a team consisting of two cosplayers.
  • The costumes must be chosen from Japanese anime, manga or video games. By 2009, only costumes from anime and manga were allowed.
  • The costumes must be self sewn / built. Purchased costumes are not permitted.
  • The costumes of a team must be from the same anime / manga series.
  • Participants must be at least 18 years old.

Germany on the WCS

In Germany, the advance Scheid for "Team Germany " annually on the Connichi in Kassel, a convention for Japanese anime and manga, instead. Development

Selection procedure:
