World Judo Championships
The World Judo Championships are organized by the International Judo Federation ( IJF ). The World Judo Championships were held for the first time in 1956 in Tokyo with a contest in the open class. Later, other weight classes were introduced. The women wore their first World Judo Championships in 1980 in New York City.
