World of Music, Arts and Dance

WOMAD ( " World of Music, Arts and Dance" ) is a series of festivals with music, art and dance is performed from different cultures. The story of WOMAD was influenced primarily by Peter Gabriel. The first WOMAD festival was held in Shepton Mallett, England in 1982. Since that time, some 145 events were held in 22 different countries around the world.

WOMAD was also instrumental in the July 2, 2005 at the Africa Calling concert as part of the Live 8 events in Cornwall.
