World Series of Snooker 2009/2010
This article deals with the tournaments Sportingbet.com World Series of Snooker in the season 2009/10.
It was the second and final year in which this tournament series was held, which was co-organized by multiple world champion John Higgins. There were four players per tournament at the top of the snooker world rankings and some wildcard players who came from the host nation.
The tournament series should make the snooker sport in countries popular that are not visited by the main tour. World ranking points but there was none.
Due to the bribery allegations against co-organizer John Higgins and, on the main tour newly introduced, Players Tour Championship, which takes a similar approach to the World Series, the World Series was eventually close.

First tournament in Killarney
The first tournament of the World Series of Snooker 2009 took place on May 16 and 17 in the INEC, Gleneagle Hotel in Killarney town instead. Officially named the tournament Champion of Champions Challenge. In the first round was played again with ten (instead of 15 ) Red. This was already covered in the final tournament of the previous season so.
In the preliminary round, all four professionals were able to prevail, even if both Ken Doherty and Jimmy White were brought to the brink of defeat by the young local players. In the semifinals, it came to the new edition of the World Cup Finals, 2009 and also the WSOs Grand Finals the previous season (08 /09) between John Higgins and Shaun Murphy. As with the Grand Final Murphy was able to prevail and met in the final to Jimmy White that he could pretty much win with 5:1.

Second tournament in Prague
The second tournament of the 2009/10 season took place on October 17th and 18th in Aréna Sparta Podvinný Mlýn in Prague. In the preliminary round made of the wildcard players Lukáš Křenek the best impression and managed to just before the end even a frame win against the reigning world champion John Higgins. The other three professional players won their matches against the Czech local heroes each without frame loss. In the semifinals, Jimmy White was then off in a surprising clarity Higgins, Graeme Dott during his compatriot Stephen Maguire conquered, which did not show his best snooker in the quarter- final match against Krystof Michal. The final between White and Dott ended 5:3 for the Englishman, who thus celebrated his first victory on the World Series.
