Wreechen

Wreechen is a district of Putbus on the island of Rügen.

Location

The place is nicely landscaped located between the Wreecher lake to the west and the rügischen Bodden in the east. The village draws mainly on the north - south road running from Putbus to Neukamp along. North West of the town is the homestead of the former water mill Wreechen.

History

Was first mentioned Wreechen 1318. 's Name is likely derived from the Slavic Vrechy for the German nut, so that the original meaning is likely seen as a settlement with nut trees.

Wreechen distinction was made between large and small early as the 14th century. Small Wreechen covered the area around the water mill Wreechen. There also the existence of a pitcher is suspected of the 16th century. Great Wreechen was the actual farming village.
