WTA 125K series

The WTA Challenger Series (also called WTA 125s ) comprises a series of tournaments in women's tennis. They are hosted by the WTA and form the substructure of the WTA Tour. The Challenger Tournaments are each endowed with prize money of 125,000 U.S. dollars and are discharged within a week. They are mainly players outside the top 100 in the world rankings to gather ranking points, to participate in the highly doped WTA tournaments can.

History

The WTA Challenger Series were first held in 2012; The first two tournaments were held in the Taiwanese capital Taipei and in Pune, India.

On December 14, 2012 announced the WTA that in the Colombian city of Cali another Challenger tournament will take place.

On 17 July 2013, the Chinese Tennis Association announced in Suzhou discharge the first WTA Challenger tournament in China with the Caoxijiu Suzhou Ladies Open 2013.
