Wylie Stateman

Wylie Stateman is an American sound engineer and sound designer.

Life

Stateman began his career in sound editor 1980. During his first film work, The Long Riders, he was not mentioned by name in the credits. Also for the sound editor of Disney's Tron, he received no attribution in the film credits. In 1985 he was nominated as one of over a dozen Tonmitarbeitern for an Emmy. Subsequently, he worked with several renowned directors, 1988-2008 eleven times with Oliver Stone and 1986-1993 also eleven times with John Hughes. He received his first Oscar nomination for Oliver Stone's Born on the 4th of July. For Stone's JFK - Tatort Dallas, he received the BAFTA 1993 Film Award. By 2013, he received an additional five Oscar nominations, but could never win the prize. Wolfgang Petersen committed Stateman for the revision of the sound effects of the Director's Cut of Das Boot.
