Wyoming Infrared Observatory

The Wyoming Infrared Observatory (short: WIRO ) is an observatory of the University of Wyoming for infrared astronomy. The main instrument is a 2.3 meter by measuring reflector telescope. The observatory is located 40 km southwest of Laramie on the top of " Jelm " in 2948 m height.

The telescope has in its primary focus a 4 -element Wynne corrector and a 2k × 2k EMCCD image sensor, bringing a picture angle of 0.3 ° is achieved. Furthermore, it has a 2D and a slit spectrometer.
