The WZ551 ( alternative designation Type 92 ) is a six-wheeled (6 × 6) Chinese troop carrier used since the mid- 1990s in the People's Liberation Army. There is also a 4 × 4 variant, an 8 × 8 variant is in the development phase.

Description

Developed by the Chinese armaments factory Norinco armored personnel is very similar to the French VAB armored personnel carriers. The design is almost identical with that of the VAB, the driver and the commander at the front of the vehicle sit while the engine is also behind the driver's seat. The cargo space has a large door with hinge, ball screens and skylights. The WZ551 is a 1.20 meter deep moat easily cross and creates a 60% gradient and 30 % slope. The WZ551 was exported to Sri Lanka, Pakistan and in smaller numbers to Algeria.
