Xammes

Xammes is a commune with 123 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Toul, to Canton Thiaucourt - Regniéville and community association Trois Vallées. The municipality is part of the Regional Natural Park of Lorraine.

Geography

The small community is located on a plateau above the left Mosel tributary Rupt de Mad, about 25 kilometers southwest of Metz. In the west the Meuse is adjacent to the community area, which consists mainly of fields and meadows. Smaller forest areas are found in the northeast and west ( Bois de Xammes ). The LGV Est européenne line of Lorraine to Paris crosses the south of the municipal area.

Neighboring communities of Xammes are Charey in the northeast, Jaulny in the east, Thiaucourt - Regniéville in the south, Beney -en- Woëvre in the southwest and Dampvitoux in the northwest.
