Xaver Frick

Xaver Frick ( born February 22, 1913 in Balzers, † 11 June 2009) was a Liechtenstein track and field athlete and cross-country skiers. He is considered one of the pioneers of organized sport in Liechtenstein.

Originally from Balzers Frick was a founding member in 1935 of the National Olympic Committee of the country and worked from this date to this as a secretary. In 1936 he was one of the founders of the National Sports Association for the Principality of Liechtenstein. Frick was also in numerous sports associations Member of the Board, including the Alpine Club, the gymnastics club and the ski club and the Balzers Liechtenstein Gymnastics and Athletics Association ( LTLV ), which he was president for 38 years and was his special attention.

In addition, he remained in spite of its official activities also active as an athlete. Among other things, he represented Liechtenstein at numerous European championships and also was a member of the Liechtenstein team at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, where he worked in the disciplines of 100 and 200 meters started as a track and field athlete, but was eliminated during preprocessing. The next Olympic Games, in which he participated were the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz, where he came eleventh with the 4 x 10 km cross-country relay. Frick is now the only Liechtenstein athlete who has attended the Olympic Summer and Winter Games.

Between the years 1963 and 1970, Frick held the office of President of the Liechtenstein NOCs. In 1996 he published his autobiography for Liechtenstein in use as an ambassador of the sport.

On 26 March 2003, he was awarded the basis of merit to Liechtenstein sports for the first time awarded Golden bay leaf from the Princely Government presented.

He died in the night of 10 to 11 June 2009 at the age of 96 years peacefully in his sleep.
