Xavier Cortés Rocha

Xavier Cortés Rocha (* in Tampico ) is a Mexican architect and urban planner. He was briefly Rector of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México ( UNAM).

Biography

Cortés studied architecture at the Escuela Nacional de Arquitectura (Faculty of Architecture of the UNAM), graduated as an architect there and after further studies as a city planner. It was followed by another study on City Planning Institute of the University of Paris. Since 1968 he has been a professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the UNAM. In 1999 he became Secretary General at the UNAM and was from 12 to 17 November 1999 there Interim Rector. He is currently director of the sitios y Monumentos del Patrimonio Cultural of Conaculta and president of the Academia Nacional de Arquitectos.
