XIMSS

XIMSS stands for XML Interface to Messaging, Scheduling, and Signaling and is an XML-based open software interface for IP communication.

Development and history

The software interface or application programming interface XIMSS was implemented in the summer of 2006 in the version 5.1 of CommuniGate Pro, to allow cross-platform development for Internet communication such as email, groupware, instant messaging and VoIP. XIMSS based on previous RFCs and XML has been submitted for standardization.

As 2003 CommuniGate Systems began to develop the XIMSS protocol, there were few standards-based clients, such as Windows Messenger or Counterpath 's Eyebeam, and various operating systems such as Mac OS X are not supported. Also in the open source environment, there was little activity to integrate Presence in e-mail and calendar applications. Experience with SIP as a standard were still in an early stage.

Means XIMSS can be inserted into the CommuniGate Pro platform XML -based applications. Furthermore, the Quiet Internet Pager QIP supports XIMSS protocol.
