Yacuíba

Yacuíba is a town in the department of Tarija in the southern part of the South American Andean State of Bolivia, close to the border with Argentina.

The city lies at an altitude 620-680 m on the eastern edge of the Andean high mountain on the railway line between the cities of Santa Cruz in Bolivia and Salta in Argentina.

Yacuíba is the central place of the district ( bolivian: Municipio) Yacuíba and capital of the province of Gran Chaco. It is located east of the capital Tarija, south of Villa Montes and north of the Tartagal Aerodrome. The city has an international airport with the International Airport Code BYC.

Geography

Yacuíba has a warm temperate climate with a pronounced rainy season from December to March with uniformly high temperatures and a dry season in the southern winter from June to September with warm day and cool night temperatures.

Yacuíba is located 279 kilometers by road from Tarija, the capital of the department.

To get to Tarija, it follows from Yacuíba of 15 kilometers of the highway Ruta 9 to the village of Campo Pajoso. There, the Ruta 29 branches off to the northwest and reached after 83 kilometers above the town of Palos Blancos Caraparí. The road meets here on the Ruta 11, which leads to coming from the border with Paraguay on Villa Montes and Palos Blancos in a westerly direction to Tarija, where she meets eight kilometers from Tarija on the Ruta 1.
