Yair Galily

Yair Galily (born 10 July 1970 Petach Tikva ) is an Israeli sociologist and dean of the Zinman College at the Wingate Institute. He is one of the pioneers of sport sociology in Israel.

Life

Galily studied at Clark University in Worchester (Master of Science, 1996) and earned his Ph.D. in 2001 at Leicester University. Galily is a senior lecturer and founder of a research group of the Israel Football Association. He is also a member of the UEFA Club Licensing Committee and the Israeli Communications Association. He is a Lieutenant Colonel in the reserve of the Israeli armed forces and worked as a sociologist for the Combat Fitness Centre of the army. Together with Amir Ben -Porat, he is considered one of the pioneers of the sociology of sport in Israel. He is co-founder of the Olympic Studies Centre of the Olympic Committee of Israel / Wingate Institute and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Academic Sports Association.
