Yakov Tolstikov

Yakov Grigoryevich Tolstikov (Russian Яков Григорьевич Толстиков, English transcription Yakov Tolstikov, . Born May 20, 1959 in Prokopjewsk ) is a former Russian marathon runner.

As early as 1979 he ran his first marathon in 2:25 h following year he improved to 2:15:38. In 1984, he presented at the Moscow Marathon with 2:10:48 h on the current course record. In 1987 he was in his first start abroad eleventh at the World Athletics Championships in Rome and aft of the Fukuoka Marathon. His greatest achievement was the victory at the IAAF World Cup Marathon, which was held as part of the London Marathon 1991. Here he presented with 2:09:17 on another national record and triumphed over one of the most prestigious fields that ever took in a city marathon. At the World Athletics Championships 1991 in Tokyo, he did not reach the goal, however, and also the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, ​​where he competed for the United Team, proceeded rather disappointing with a 22nd place. In the same year, he came sixth in London and Fukuoka.

In 1994, he was third at the Vienna City Marathon. The following year he was fifth at the Tokyo International Women's Marathon and won the Siberian International Marathon in Omsk.

Tolstikov lives in Kemerovo, where he has been working at a sports school as a teacher.
