Yakovlev Yak-12

The Yakovlev Yak -12 (Russian Яковлев Як -12) is a Soviet multi-purpose aircraft, and was developed in 1944 to replace the Po-2 by Nikolai Polikarpov. It was used for various tasks, for example as a liaison, medical, and agricultural aircraft. From the replica in Poland under license aircraft a total of several thousand pieces in numerous versions were produced.

Development

Alexander Yakovlev based his design on the Yakovlev Yak -10, a two-seat liaison aircraft. The main changes compared to the previous item in a new wing with a modified profile thickness, a converted empennage, and a generously glazed cabin. The Yak- 12 also still had an additional third jump seat and a multi-purpose chassis that could be converted to skis or floats. She was equipped with an air-cooled M- 11FR piston motor with radially arranged cylinders. To 1946/47, was the testing of the shoulder Deckers and from 1949 serial production, which ran until 1960. Early 1950s was the Yak- 12, the more powerful Ivchenko AI - 14R engine, which was maintained until the end of production. From 1956 to 1960, built under license in the WSK factory in Warsaw's Okecie 137 Yak- 12A and 1054 Yak- 12M in Poland.

The hull of the Yak- 12 consisted of a fabric-covered steel tube structure with a rectangular cross section. In the engine area was the outer skin of metal.

Had two main spars of the wing, and was connected to V - struts to the hull. The leading edge was provided with slats that ran over the entire wingspan. The rudder and flaps were also covered with fabric, while the whole other part of the wing was metallbeplankt. The abgestrebte normal tail consisted of a framework of steel tubing with fabric covering. The Yak- 12 had a rigid tail dragger landing gear, the main wheels were not interconnected.
