Yam Iceland, also Iama called, is an island in the center of the archipelago of the Torres Strait Islands. From the south coast of Papua New Guinea it is 65 kilometers and 95 kilometers from the north coast of Australia.

Administratively, it belongs to the Central Islands, an island region in the municipality of Torres Shire of the Australian state of Queensland.

The 173 -hectare hilly island is surrounded by a fringing reef. In the middle of the island, a 800 -meter-long airstrip for light aircraft has been created. The only settlement located on the west coast; according to the census of 2006 311 people live on Yam Iceland. 2001, there were still 338
