Yamatane Museum
The Yamatane Art Museum (Japanese山 种 美术馆, Yamatane Bijutsukan ) is a private museum of Fine Arts in Tokyo with a focus Nihonga.
The Yamatane Museum is on securities dealers Yamazaki Taneji (山崎 种 二; 1893-1983 ) back. Yamazaki was friends with Yokoyama Taikan, collected art of Nihonga direction, said he expected an increase in value. In 1966 he made his collection to the public under the former name of Yamatane accessible. The collection was first shown in the vicinity of the company headquarters in the banking district Kabutochō. Since 2007, the collection is located in Hiroo Shibuya district in the city where it is easily accessible. The collection has major works of Japanese painting of the Meiji, Taishō and Shōwa period ( Takeuchi Seihō, Uemura Shoen, Murakami Kagaku, Yokoyama Taikan ), including an extensive collection of early death Hayami Gyoshū.
