Yamdena, also Jamdena or North Timor sound, is the largest of the Indonesian Tanimbarese Islands, at the southern edge of the Banda Sea and the northern edge of the Arafura Sea.
Geography
Saumlaki at the southern end is the main city of the island. Yamdena is one of the southern Moluccas. Administratively Yamdena part of the administrative district ( kabupaten ) Maluku Tenggara Barat, Maluku province.
Population
On the island Yamdena traditionally spoken. The inhabitants of the island are known for their traditional lifestyle, even if Christianity is the main religion on the island.
Culture
Woodcut art, jewelery and clothes to the type of traditional Ikat Web style are the main sources of income.
Fauna
In the forests of the island of wild water buffalo, the Tanimbarbuschsänger ( Cettia carolinae ) and the Tanimbarese - Amethystine live.
