Yanbian University

The Yanbian University (Chinese延边 大学, Pinyin Yanbian Daxue; Korean: 연변 대학 - Yeonbyeon Daehak ) is a university in the People's Republic of China on March 20, founded in 1949, state. It has its headquarters in Yanji, capital of Yanbian Autonomous Prefecture of Koreans.

History

The University was founded in 1949 on March 20, two months after the invasion of communist troops in Beijing. As both Korean- and Chinese-language University of their task, the Korean minority is to enable higher education.

Overview

The Yanbian University is among the universities of the project 211 and 2004 had around 16,500 students and nearly 1,500 academic staff. Around 400 students came from abroad, most of them from South Korea, Japan, the United States and Russia. It consists of 12 faculties.

International cooperation

The Yanbian University operates on an international scale with major South Korean universities and even some North Korean scientific institutes.
