Yasna polyana

Jasna Polyana ( Bulgarian Ясна поляна, German [ small ] bright glade / glade ) is a village in the southeastern part of Bulgaria. It is located in Primorsko municipality in the administrative district Oblast Burgas.

Geography

Jasna Polyana is located at the foot of the beach Saddle Mountains and along the river Reka Diavolska. On the northern edge of the village, the river flows Ropotamo. The surrounding the village of old forests are referred to by the local population as Lungusi.

1970 was built southeast of the village is the second largest reservoir in the Oblast Burgas. This reservoir supplies drinking water for the south coast of Bulgaria.

History

The old name of the village is Alan Kajrjak, which can be translated " space for sunbathing " with. In the period 1885-1913 the Bulgarian- Turkish border was south of the village, and the village itself was a border post. The present name of the village owes the writer Leo Tolstoy. In the early 20th century, a group of young intellectuals from all parts of Bulgaria has established a " Tolstoy Colony " in this village that has kept correspondence with Leo Tolstoy. The community was heavily involved in village life, and so the village was renamed after the name of Yasnaya Polyana the birthplace of the writer Leo Tolstoy.

Attractions

Sacred Well and chapel

One kilometer from the village, in the shadow of the forest, there is a holy water source and the Chapel of St. Constantine and Elena.

Museum

In the village there is a museum. Part of it is Leo Tolstoy and his followers, the Tolstojanern dedicated. A pleasant surprise is the ethnographic and historical part of the exhibition, which shows old wooden plows, looms and huge cooking pots.

Jasna Polyana is one of the few places in Bulgaria where the authentic local food " странджански дядо " ( Grandpa from beach damage, a dish prepared with meat from wild boar and deer ) is prepared.
