Yasuhisa Shiozaki

Yasuhisa Shiozaki (Japanese塩 崎 恭 久, Yasuhisa Shiozaki, born November 7, 1950 in Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture) is a Japanese politician and member of the LDP Shūgiin, the Japanese House of Commons. From 2006 to 2007 he was Chief Cabinet Secretary. Within the LDP Shiozaki is a member of the Koga faction.

Life

Shiozaki is the oldest son of former LDP lower house deputies and Director of the Economic Planning Agency Shiozaki Jun. He studied until 1975 American Studies at the University of Tokyo. He then worked for the Bank of Japan. In 1982, he earned a Master of Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School. From 1982 to 1983 he was secretary to his father in the Economic Planning Agency. In 1986, he finally left the Bank of Japan to turn to politics.

1990 Shiozaki was again his father's secretary, than this as head of the Department of Management and Communication for a short time minister was again. After the withdrawal of his father from politics Shiozaki candidate in the 1993 election Shūgiin successful in its constituency, the first constituency of Ehime Prefecture. From 1995 to 2000 he was a member of the Sangiin for Ehime before 2000 returned back to his old seat in the Shūgiin choice. 2005 Shiozaki was State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under Prime Minister Koizumi Jun'ichirô. His successor Shinzō Abe appointed him when he took office to the Chief Cabinet Secretary and Minister of State for the abduction issue.
