Yat-Kha

Yat- Kha (Russian Ят - ха transcribed Jat -cha ) is a band from Tuva, the singer and guitarist Albert Kuwesin (founding member of Huun - Huur -Tu ) together with the Russian avant-garde composer and electronic musician Ivan Sokolovsky 1991 in Moscow founded. Yat- Kha initially played a blend of traditional tuwanischer music with electronic music, later distinguished with modern rock music and post-punk, which is particularly characterized by Kuwesins deep throat singing ( Kargyraa, Kanzat Kargyraa ).

Ribbon background

Kuwesin and Sokolowski woven traditional Tuvan folk music with post-modern rhythms and electronic effects. After a few tours and festival appearances, they named the project " Yat- Kha ", which is a small Central Asian zither called the Kuwesin playing along with the guitar. Yat- Kha but is also an ironic Tuvan slang term for Tuva in the Soviet time, which means something like " poor bastard " or "less ( dumb ) brother." In 1993 they released their debut album in generations.

After this publication, Kuwesins and Sokolowski parted ways and Kuwesin published together with other musicians more albums under the name Yat- Kha, with the style off towards electronic to rock shifted without losing the elements of the Tuvan music.

Sokolowski a remastered version of their debut album released in 1997 under the name "Tundra 's Ghosts ".

A participation of musicians from Yat- Kha, there were, among others, the album Vihma (1998), the Finnish band Värttinä, the album Duren of Russian rock band Alisa and the audio art project Earborn (1996).
