Yatsugatake South Base Observatory

The Yatsugatake South Base Observatory (Japanese八ヶ岳 南麓 天文台, Yatsugatake Nanroku Tenmondai ) is an astronomical observatory in Hokuto in Yamanashi prefecture on the island of Honshu in Japan. It is listed in the List of observatory codes under the number 896.

Due to its proximity to the metropolitan area of ​​Tokyo, it is often used, which is reflected in a variety of asteroid discoveries. The Japanese astronomer Yoshio Kushida worked there next to astronomical observations in the monitoring of natural phenomena that precede earthquakes.
