Yeah Yeah Yeahs

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are one in 2000 in New York, NY, founded rock band. The band consists of vocalist and pianist Karen O, guitarist and keyboardist Nick Zinner and drummer Brian Chase.

Band History

Karen Orzolek ( Karen O) and Nicholas "Nick" Zinner founded the band in 2000 as a folk duo under the original name Unitard. After a first drummer left the band, Brian Chase came newly added to the lineup. From the beginnings with acoustic guitar and vocals the band went, inspired by the avant- punk scene in Ohio, amplified to electric guitars over and finally defined their style, which can best be described as indie rock, but also often under Art- punk and garage rock is classified.

After Supportgigs for The Strokes and The White Stripes in 2001, the band released their first with Yeah Yeah Yeahs -titled EP. The EP is incorrectly referred to as master sometimes because of the cover photo ornamental necklace with the pendant master. After further appearances with Sleater Kinney, Liars, and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion was released in 2002, the second EP Machine.

Finally, in 2003 released their first studio album titled Fever to Tell on Interscope. The album was recorded mostly very positively by critics and was nominated in 2004 for Best Alternative Music Album category for the Grammy Awards. According to the British newspaper The Guardian Fever to Tell has sold more than one million copies.

From the second album Show Your Bones that followed the fall of 2006, the band was supported in live performance by guitarist Imaad Wasif. The first single from the album was Gold Lion. Appeared in 2007, the EP Is Is

The planned for the April 2009 release of their third album It's Blitz! was brought forward to 10 March, after the album was circulated by a leak in February on the internet. Since the tour for this album David Pajo replaced as second guitarist Imaad Wasif in live performance.

The fourth album, titled Mosquito was published on 16 April 2013.

Others

  • Karen O was born in South Korea as Karen Lee Orzolek. Her mother is Korean, her father is from Poland. On the soundtrack to the biopic I'm Not There about Bob Dylan sings Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited.
  • Nick Zinner is a member of the hardcore punk band Head Wound City, play in the remainder members of The Locust and The Blood Brothers. On the album Digital Ash published in 2005 in a Digital Urn of Bright Eyes, he worked on several titles with as a guitarist and keyboard player. As a guitarist, he is also represented on the published 2008 debut album Anywhere I Lay My Head to the actress Scarlett Johansson.
