Yeha

Yeha ( Ge'ez ይሐ YIHA, altsüdarabisch Yḥʔ ) is a village in northern Ethiopia. The place is located in an area whose soil is particularly fertile. Here are today the ruins of a temple, which can be assigned to the kingdom of Da'amot. Yeha was perhaps its capital. The temple ( 18.5 m x 15 m) consists of stone and is still in good condition. Excavations were found the remains of a palace and a necropolis. Some of the grave sites were royal policy. There was an inscription of the ruler ʿ W rn Ḥywt.

At the site there is also a monastery of the Ethiopian Tewahedo Orthodox Church. Excavations have taken place since 1952, with interruptions.
