Yehuda HaKohen ben Meir

Yehuda ben Meir (also known as Yehuda ha - Kohen or Judah of Mainz ) was a rabbi, Talmud teacher and traveler of the late 10th and early 11th century. His book, Sefer ha - dinim, contains a compilation of his travels as well as the other Jews in Eastern Europe. In his descriptions of Przemysl and Kiev are mentioned as trading centers within the Radhaniten network.

Rabbi Yehuda was the pioneering teacher Gershom ben Judah, and his work influenced the later writings of Rashi. Yehuda was also called "the Great" and " the Gaon ".
