Yehuda Lancry

Yehuda Lancry ( born September 25, 1947 in Boujad, Morocco) is an Israeli politician and diplomat.

Lancry grew up in Boujad and Casablanca. 1965 emigrated with his family to Israel, where they settled in Nahariya. From 1966 to 1970 he served in the Israel Defense Forces and was an aircraft mechanic in the Israeli Air Force. He studied French literature at the University of Nice Sophia -Antipolis. There he received his master's degree in 1980 and his PhD in 1986. From 1988 to 1992 worked as Lancry Gastlecturer of French Literature at the University of Haifa.

His political career began Lancry as mayor of Schelomi 1983-1992. Between 1991 and 1992 he served as Chairman of the Second Israeli Broadcasting Authority. In 1992 he was appointed Israeli ambassador to France. This office he held until 1995. In 1996, his election for Likud was in the Knesset. There he was, among others, Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Chairman of the Ethics Committee. In the elections of 1999, he could not defend his position. Instead, he became the new Israeli ambassador to the UN, which he remained until 2002.

Yehuda Lancry is married and has two sons.
