Yekaterina Gamova

Yekaterina Alexandrovna Gamowa (Russian Екатерина Александровна Гамова; born October 17, 1980 in Chelyabinsk, Soviet Union) is a Russian volleyball player.

She is a member of the Russian national team. With this she took in the Olympic Summer Games 2000 in Sydney and 2004 in Athens each of silver, and at the World Championships in 2006 and 2010 in Japan for the title. Since 2010 she plays for Dynamo Kazan VK. At a height of 2.02 m, it is one of the greatest athletes in the world. She has shoe size 49

Career

At the age of nine years Yekaterina Gamowa first began playing volleyball in the club Chelyabinsk. Their first coach was her aunt Lyubov Gamowa. Joining the club Metar enabled her at the age of 14 years for the first time to earn money through volleyball. In 1998 she became a member of Uralochka, under coach Nikolai Karpol, so she moved to Yekaterinburg. With their debut in the Russian national volleyball team in 1999 first successes came for Ekaterina at international level. That same year, the Russian women won the European Championship, as well as the Grand Prix and took silver in the World Cup.

In 2000, she earned silver in the Grand Prix, as well as at the Olympic Games in Sydney. Silver they were able to record the following year, also at the European Championships and the World Cup. They also obtained in the same year Bronze in the Grand Prix. From the World Cup of 2002, the Russian volleyball team took bronze and from the Grand Prix Gold with. Other successes they achieved a silver medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. The world title was the Russian women in 2006 after 16 years again call their own. Private

Ekaterina grew up in a household of women. Since her father left the family at an early age, was raised " Katja " from her mother, aunt and grandmother. Since she ultimately lost her mother, her circle of friends has become for her family. From the volleyball mates are among her closest girlfriends Anastasia Belikova and Tanja Gorschkova.

Early realized that she was the greatest among peers. Today it is one of the biggest athletes in the world.
