Yellow -backed duiker ( Cephalophus silvicultor )

The Yellow -backed duiker and giant duikers ( Cephalophus silvicultor ) is a type of the family Bovidae. It is found only in Africa. We distinguish between up to six subspecies.

Features

The Yellow -backed duiker reached a body weight of up to 63 kilograms. With a shoulder height of up to 79 inches, it is the largest Ducker.

A dark, gray -brown hair dress covers the body, a striking, yellow-brown stain which are rump widening rear portion. This has led to the common name, Germany. Young animals lack this coat color first. They develop until the age of five to eight months. The males of the yellow -backed duiker wear short, straight horns. They reach a length of up to 20 Zentinmeter.

Over the life of the Gelbrückenduckers almost nothing is known. You reach an age of up to nine years.

Dissemination

The Yellow -backed duiker lives in the Central African Kongobasin to Senegal and occurs among other things, in the nature reserves of Kafue, Upemba, Salonga and Virunga. Densely forested areas are among his habitat. Like other Ducker he mainly lives individually and used regularly beaten exchange. Their main diet consists of fruits, berries and mushrooms.

Endangering
