yelworC

YelworC is a German Dark Electro project. It was formed in the year between December 1987 and January 1988 in Munich, then under the name of livE yelworC.

The founding members were Peter Schiffmann (aka Peter Levine, later Peter Devin ) and Oliver Büttner (aka Dominik van Reich). In 1989 the band name was shortened to " yelworC ". Turning the band name to, we obtain the surname of the British magician and occultist Aleister Crowley.

Background

YelworC published since 1988 seven demo cassettes, of which especially the last three tapes AIWASS, $ atanat and Tanata $ represented the sound, for the project to be known.

In 1992 the first official album was released under the title brainstorming that was recorded differently by critics and especially in the black scene and the former EBM movement met with divided opinions. Was this work of Gothic and wave community failed too hard and electronic, EBM supporters criticized particularly the gloom of compositions. Only a short time later and with the establishment of the tracks Sacred City as a club hit, the album turned out to be popular success and as groundbreaking for the Dark- Electro- environment. Following the release of the EP Blood In Face containing the track Soul Hunter as another club hit, separated Oliver Büttner of yelworC and founded the project amGod, with whom he also some new versions of renowned yelworC songs anfertigte ( as, among others, Data Control ).

Peter Devin led yelworC continue as a one man project. Announced as early as the 1990s, several times, the third plant Trinity, for among other things Dennis Ostermann ( In Strict Confidence ) was recruited as a guest vocalist and producer was not published until 2004.

Trinity is the first part of a trilogy, which revolves around the Divine Comedy of Dante Alighieri, the titles of the other parts are Eclosion and Icolation.

Influence

YelworC influenced a number of artists from the electrical environment, such as Hocico, Tri-State, Hioctan or Aslan Faction, and already gained worldwide popularity in the 1990s. Earlier albums and in particular the demo releases are rare today.
