Yerba Buena Center for the Arts

The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts is a community center with artistic orientation in the district of Yerba Buena in San Francisco. After the district was redeveloped in the early 1980s, began the plans for the center. In 1986, the operating company was founded. The center was opened in 1993.

Shaping

The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts is a complex of two buildings. The Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki was planning one of the buildings, which contains over an area of about 5100 m² three galleries, a forum and a cinema. The Forum is an event hall with an area of ​​about 600 m² area, the seating can be arranged for up to 600 people. The theater has 94 seats.

In the second, designed by James Stewart Polshek Americans, building is the Novellus Theater, which is named after the company Novellus Systems. In the auditorium are on two levels 757 seats available. Overall, this building has a total floor area of about 4700 m².

Use

The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts is used by both local and international artists and groups of artists for exhibitions, performances and conferences.
